Be it balcony or garden, city or country idyll, rising temperatures are enticing fresh-air enthusiasts outside. They create islands of greenery for themselves in the city, promising peace and relaxation. Or, with everything but the kitchen sink, they transform the garden into a colourful party zone, which the neighbours can’t resist either.
Which colours, patterns and materials represent which sorts of attitude to life? The magazine Bloom’s, in co-operation with Messe Frankfurt, are showcasing the trends for town and country that will be setting the tone in the spring and summer seasons of 2009.
The garden season will open with cheery, country-style items that make working in the garden with children and friends a sheer pleasure. Plants in the big city Hectic daily grind and the grey city? Little islands of sunshine and bright, fresh decoration provide relief. Forms are modern and light, colours fresh and bright, promising a release of all that tension. Entwined foliage, grasses and flowers transform simple balconies into green oases. A few storeys higher, roof terraces with appropriate accessories create an inviting location for barbecues and cocktails.
